“We need further explanation on the specific military support we are going to end, and, just as importantly, what support Biden still wants to offer to the Saudis,” Khanna said in a list of demands. “We need Biden’s commitment to use all its leverage to end Yemen’s Saudi-led de facto blockade. “We must reaffirm that we have ended all arms sales to the Saudis and that we will not honor any outstanding arms contracts,” he continued, adding, “We must push for additional humanitarian aid in all parts of Yemen.”

The Trump administration recently approved a $ 290 million sale to Riyadh for 3,000 small-diameter Boeing-manufactured GBU-39 bombs and ammunition and related equipment. The approval follows another green light for Raytheon to sell Saudi Arabia 7,500 of its “smart” air-to-ground “smart” bombs at an estimated value of $ 478 million.

Biden said a week after his inauguration that he was interrupting some of the Trump administration’s arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates pending a review.
