The amazing revelation that Quicksilver was essentially reconstituted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe WandaVision shocked fans, with X-Men film actor Evan Peters replacing Aaron Taylor-Johnson in a moment that left fans doubting what it means for the multiverse. But in which we are now only teased WandaVision Episode 5, “On a Very Special Episode …” has only raised questions about Quicksilver’s arrival, and it may not open the door for a crossover with the X-Men franchise. We now know that this version of Pietro is not the right thing to do – especially after Agatha Harkness became clear about her manipulation of Wanda Maximoff. But what does it mean for Marvel to move forward?
During Disney +’s TCA presentation on Wednesday, Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, said that the decision to bring in Peters rather than Taylor-Johnson took place fairly early in the development process and then explained that it was all part of how “certain people” mess with Wanda.
“It’s one of the nice things about developing these things or making them blue in the rooms,” Feige said (via The wrap). “My favorite part of the process is always the very beginning when we find out what something can be and the very end when we refine it and bring it out into the world. So there were all kinds of discussions, but I believe we end up relatively early. “It’s just another way some people messed with Wanda.”
And last week’s “Breaking the Fourth Wall”, the seventh episode of the series, revealed that someone had indeed tampered with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and used “Pietro” to do so. Agnes revealed Agatha in the episode and a montage showed viewers what it was like ‘Agatha all-time’, complete with a catchy theme song – a theme song that resulted in many creative fans and remixes. Of course, there are still many theories that suggest that Agatha may not be the biggest problem of WandaVision. There are many theories that suggest that Mephisto or Nightmare may still be behind everything, and even some theories that Quicksilver may actually be Chthon. Fans will just have to wait for the last two episodes to find out.
The first seven installments of WandaVision now streaming on Disney +.
