The 21c Museum Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky, unveiled its retro room inspired by The Queen’s Gambit in the 1960s on Wednesday – booking bookings for fans and chess lovers.

The Harmon Room has a chessboard art installation across the bed that mimics the drug-induced visions that orphan prodigy Beth Harmon (Isla Johnston) has in the eye-catching Netflix show.

Lexington happens to be Beth’s hometown, and the room contains a guide to landmarks in the area based on the seven-part series based on Walter Tevis, a 1983 novel from 1983.

The boutique hotel room’s modern furniture and mid-century accessories were chosen by interior designer Isabel Ladd, conservationist Lucy Jones and Alex K Mason of Ferrick Mason Inc.

“I’ve been collecting furniture from that era for the past three decades,” Jones said.

“It’s pure joy to bring the rich scenes of the page and screen to life.”

Ladd added: “When I watched The Queen’s Gambit, I stopped and just enchanted again with all the colors and patterns.”

The time capsule reflects the many luxury hotels that housed Beth (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her enterprising adoptive mother Alma Wheatley (Marielle Heller).

For a limited time only, guests can play on the locally made chess set and look at the custom background of the chess theme, The Knight’s Gambit, in the ‘immersive experience’.
