Kenosha sheriff identifies 24-year-old shooting suspect

The sheriff’s department in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Monday identified 24-year-old Rakayo Alandis Vinson as the suspect in a Sunday shooting that killed three people and injured three others.

Vinson is in custody at Kenosha County Jail and is facing one charge of first-degree murder after a shooting at the Summers House tavern and is likely to face additional charges.

“Detectives and other law enforcement officials involved have conducted numerous interviews and gathered a lot of evidence from the crime scenes, including the seizure of several vehicles,” the Sheros department of Kenosha said in a statement Sunday.

Detectives collected “surveillance video evidence during extended canvases in the area” and “continue to process the crime scenes,” the statement said.

Local resident Azriel Raasch and her friends identified the three deceased victims as Kevin Donaldson (22) of Kenosha; Cedric Gaston, 24, of Kenosha; and 26-year-old Atkeen Stevenson of Kenosha, Sheriff David Beth announced at a Fox 6 Milwaukee press conference on Monday.

The three other injured victims include a 26-year-old man from Kenosha, a 22-year-old man from Wonder Lake and a 23-year-old man from Wonder Lake, Illinois.

Two of the dead victims were shot inside the bar while the third was shot outside, Sheriff David Beth announced during a Fox 6 press conference on Monday.

“They had no hatred for anyone,” Raasch said. “They did not hate anyone. It’s just struggling. It’s struggling because our city is falling apart.”

She added that the victims ‘were the most kind, loving spirit'[s]. “

“It’s just as hard to explain because they all loved, even though they did not know you,” she said.

Police believe the third victim may have also exchanged fire with Vinson, Beth said during the briefing.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the shooting. Sheriff Beth encourages anyone with more information to call the department at (262) 605-5100 or send an anonymous fee to the Kenosha County Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.

“We are very grateful. … We have had people calling in names. If you have more information you can give us, please do not think we have all the pieces,” Beth said during the briefing. “… It’s a big puzzle, and we’re trying to put all the pieces together so we can put our suspect away for the rest of his life.”

Beth added during the briefing that many criminal activities are moving from northern Chicago to the Kenosha area.
