Kenosha County DA requests arrest of Kyle Rittenhouse, higher bond

Prosecutors on Wednesday ordered a new arrest warrant for a Illinois teenager accused of shooting dead three people and killing two of them during a protest against Wisconsin police after he allegedly violated his bail conditions has.

Kyle Rittenhouse allegedly did not notify the court within 48 hours after he moved of his change of address, Kenosha County prosecutors alleged in a motion filed with Judge Bruce Schroeder. The motion calls for Schroeder to issue an arrest warrant and increase Rittenhouse’s bail by $ 200,000.

Rittenhouse is charged with several counts, including manslaughter, in connection with the August protests. Prosecutors allege he responded to a call by a militia to protect businesses in Kenosha and opened fire on three men, killing Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz. Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, maintained that he was acting in self-defense.

The DA’s office also said in the motion: “Rarely do our community see accused killers roaming free.”

Once again, the district attorney is now asking for the $ 200,000 increase in Rittenhouse mortgage. The motion also asks the court to order Rittenhouse to immediately update his address in writing to the court clerk.

A woman who answered the phone at the office of Rittenhouse’s attorney, Mark Reynolds, did not comment Wednesday.
