In a brief statement Thursday, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany dismissed Wednesday’s uprising by Trump supporters on Capitol Hill, committing to an “orderly transfer of power” between governments.
‘Let me be clear: the violence we saw in the Capitol of our country yesterday was horrific, reprehensible and antithetical to the American way. We strongly condemn it – the president and this government. This is unacceptable and those who have violated the law should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, ”McEnany said before leaving the personal information room without asking reporters’ questions.

A massive group of rioters gathered on Wednesday to try to stop Congress from counting election president Joe Biden’s election college. They violated the Capitol, forced both chambers of Congress to go into recession and evacuate lawmakers, causing numerous injuries and major property damage.
Four people die amid the riots of the day. One woman was shot in an altercation with police, while three died in medical emergencies.
“What we saw yesterday was a group of violent rioters violating the first amendment rights of those who came peacefully to make their voices heard in the capital of our country. Those who violently besieged our capital are the opposite of what this government stands, “McEnany said. .

She added: “Those who work in this building are ensuring an orderly transition of power. Now is the time for America to unite, come together and reject the violence we have seen. We are one American people under God. ”
McEnany’s brief appearance – in which she read the statement “on behalf of the White House”, not the president, was the government’s first public statement on the riot in the Capitol after Trump released a video saying his supporters: “we love you very special. ” The video was later completely removed from Twitter and Facebook.
McEnany in particular said White House staff are following an orderly transition, despite the fact that Trump, with less than two weeks in office, has not yet conceded the election. In fact, he even insisted in Wednesday’s video that the 2020 election was hampered and stolen – an allegation that led insurgents to descend on the Capitol shortly thereafter.
