She’s making television tonight as the first female presenter of the game show Jeopardy!

And Katie Couric says it was a good idea to accept the concert if it was presented.

“It’s just such an American institution and the opportunity to play a small role in the continuation of this show was just something I did not want to give up,” the 64-year-old said in an interview on Sunday on YouTube said.

The veteran TV anchor is hosting the CBS games program until March 19 as one of a series of hosts following the death of cancer from legendary longtime host Alex Trebek.

Couric admitted that she felt nervous about accepting the high profile.

“The last thing I wanted to do was come here and confuse the show,” she says.

‘The thing is, everyone here [at Jeopardy!] take care of you so well and it was such a relief to know that they would not make me look stupid and that they would have my back and help me out, ‘she said.

Her host will also raise money for the charity she is setting up with Stand Up To Cancer with the show giving an amount equal to the participants’ cumulative profits.

Trebek died in November after a long and sincere battle with cancer.

Danger! champion Ken Jennings initially took over the reins before CBS announced that no permanent replacement host would be appointed for the time being.

In addition to Couric, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, dr. Mehmet Oz, dr. Sanjay Gupta, Green Bay Packers eighth-man Aaron Rodgers, actress Mayim Bialik and journalist Bill Whitaker all tapped into hosting the quiz show.
