Katharine McPhee loves mom’s life.
The American Idol alum welcomes her first child with her husband David Foster on February 24th. Now the star is showing how happy she is with her new role in her Instagram story.
In a photo where she is holding her baby boy in a sling, the Smash actress wrote: “Just in case you were wondering, I like being a mom.” She even included some crying emojis to show how emotional she was about her new parenting status.
Katharine and David, who have five other children as well as seven grandchildren, were married in 2019. E! News reports that the two are expecting their first child together in October last year.
An insider for the couple said both mum and dad were delighted to embark on their parenting journey together.
“Katharine, David and the baby are doing well,” the insider shared on March 4. ‘Katharine is so excited that the baby is finally here. She had waited a long time to be a mother and could not have been happier that the time had come. ‘

Despite the excitement, the pregnancy was not planned, a source told E! News last year.
“Katharine has always wanted to be a mother and have a baby with David,” the insider said in October. “They did not necessarily try to have a baby, but were open to it happening this year. As the work slowed down for both of them, they knew it would be a wonderful time to happen.
It was clear that it was just as wonderful as the couple had imagined them to be.
