It’s right: Mia Threapleton – the 20-year-old daughter of Winslet and filmmaker Jim Threapleton – has also characterized her own path in the acting world. She was in the thriller Shadows last year you can see the trailer below.

Winslet and Threapleton married in 1998 before divorcing in 2001.
In a recent interview with ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly, Winslet – who plays in the new HBO series Easttown Mare – talks about Mia’s acting career: ‘She’s just about to start working on a TV series in the Czech Republic.’

“It was a wonderful thing,” she said to Mia, following in her footsteps. “I think I knew it was coming, I always suspected.”

Winslet also explained that Mia was able to build her career without relying on her mother’s reputation because she had another surname: “What was great about her was that she had another surname.”
“When she put out the first job at the gate, she slipped right under the radar, and the people throwing her had absolutely no idea she was my daughter. And of course that was my biggest fear.”

Eventually, however, Winslet admits that it is “the most important thing for her self-esteem” that Mia gets the role without relying on her mother’s established reputation.
