KANSAS CITY, Ma. Patrick Mahomes was with the Kansas City Chiefs when they started Friday’s training session, their last before Sunday’s AFC championship game against the Buffalo Bills in Arrowhead Stadium.
It looks like his participation on Friday will put Mahomes on a path to play on Sunday. Andy Reid, head coach, said Mahomes took all the screenshots in practice on Thursday and a majority of them.
Mahomes was beaten in the division round last week with the symptoms of concussion from the playoff game against the Browns after he was going hard. He was in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Three other key Chiefs players battling injuries were also present for the start of Friday’s practice match: wide receiver Sammy Watkins (calf), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (hip, ankle) and fullback Bashaud Breeland (concussion, shoulder ).
Coach Sean McDermott said the Bills are preparing for Mahomes to play.
“I think at the beginning of the week we weren’t quite sure, and we really would not know,” McDermott said. “It’s probably heading in that direction, so that’s what we expect.”
