Kansas City Chiefs put Demarcus Robinson, Daniel Kilgore on the reserve / COVID-19 list

The Kansas City Chiefs placed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and rugby center Daniel Kilgore on the reserve / COVID-19 list due to close contact.

The roster movements are the first issues related to the coronavirus ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl.

If they are only officially named as close contacts, Robinson and Kilgore could play in Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they have negative Tests for five consecutive days.

“The NFL has done an excellent job of that by offering different safety things so that the players can stay as safe as possible,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday. “We’ve hammered this point forever. The problem is that you fight the invisible man. You only get it when it’s least expected, and we see it in everything. It’s an unfortunate thing.”

Robinson, 26, had 45 receptions this season for 466 yards and three touchdowns.

Kilgore, 33, has appeared in seven games this season – including four starts – his first for the Chiefs. The ten-year veteran is named as Austin City’s rugby center behind Austin Reiter.

“These guys were as safe as they could be,” Reid said, “and we’ll see how it goes. But the league has built-in rules and regulations, so we follow it and it will all work out. It will all work out for them if everything is said and done. ‘
