KANSAS CITY, Ma. The Kansas City Chiefs got two big plays from their quarterback area near the end of the game to retain Sunday’s 22-17 Division playoff game over the Cleveland Browns.
With Mahomes in the locker room after suffering a concussion and being knocked out of the game, Chad Henne made two big plays to save the Chiefs. On the Chiefs’ last ride, he scrambled 13 yards and finished with a dive to get to the first down marker, to set up a fourth and one throw.
He completed a five-yard pass to Tyreek Hill to enable the Chiefs to continue the ride and run the clock.
“If you’re with him, you just know,” Reid said of why he trusted Henne, who had not been a regular starter since 2014, when he was with the Jacksonville Jaguars. “Everyone trusts him.

Henne replaced Mahomes in the third quarter. Mahomes was hit hard by Browns linebacker Mack Wilson during his hurried effort in the third quarter and looked unsteady as he stood up. He was taken to the injury tent on the sidelines for a quick examination before heading to the locker room.
“He’s actually doing very well,” Reid said after the game. “We’ll see how it goes tomorrow, but at the moment he’s feeling pretty good.”
Mahomes’ status for next Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium is unclear. The Chiefs beat the Exchange in Buffalo by Buffalo by 26-17 in Quarterback by 26-17.
After the game, Wilson tweeted that he hoped Mahomes would be able to return for the AFC title game, to which Mahomes replied, “All good brother!”

If Henne should play sooner, the two plays he made on the Chiefs’ final ride will help give his teammates some confidence that they can beat the Bills and make it to Super Bowl LV.
