The vice president’s stepdaughter is going to do modeling work.
On Thursday, IMG Models announced that it now represents Ella Emhoff, vice president Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter.
Emhoff, 21, is a senior at the Parsons School of Design in New York City, where she studies fine arts and focuses on textiles, according to The New York Times.
Her style was particularly noticeable during President Joe Biden’s inauguration last week, where she wore a Miu Miu coat that went viral.

“What she wore that day and who she was was consistent with the person I met,” IMG Models president Ivan Bart told The Times. “That’s why everyone noticed her.”
Bart said, however, that Emhoff only caught his attention much earlier during a fundraiser for Harris during the presidential election. Bart and Emoff started discussing the possibility of Emhoff at IMG last summer.

“I was pretty surprised when everything happened with IMG, because when I was younger, I never saw it as part of my timeline,” Emhoff told The Times.

Although she said modeling seems intimidating, the industry is also changing to include more diversity. Emhoff told The Times she’s excited to use her new platform to ” share a lot of things I really care about and do well. ”

Bart also told The Times that modeling has shifted his focus more to authenticity.
“It’s not really about shape, size or gender anymore,” he said. “Ella communicates this moment in time. There is a brutality and a joy she radiates.”

According to The Times, Emhoff has already had a few model shows with a smaller agent. However, IMG Models is a big step. Some of the agencies’ models include Karlie Kloss, Ashley Graham, Gisele Bündchen and Gigi and Bella Hadid.
IMG Models announced that Emhoff will join its ranks just two days after the modeling agency said it had done so signed another star of the inauguration: Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet.
