Vice President Kamala Harris and second Mr Doug Emhoff will be living in Blair House temporarily, as repairs are being made to the official Vice Presidential House at the Naval Observatory, a report said.
The move, at the navy’s request, involves replacing chimney linings and other maintenance to the number one observatory, a Harris assistant told CBS News.
The repairs will be easier to complete if the house is unoccupied, the assistant told the office.
It was not immediately clear how long Harris and Emhoff would stay in Blair House, which is across from the White House, and would usually be used to house the president’s guests.
Once Harris and Emhoff officially move to the Queen Anne-style home on the observatory, it will be the eighth time a vice president has lived there.
The house, built in 1893, is on 12 acres of the 72-acre site of the still-operational U.S. Navy Observatory.
