He then accused the right and left of trying to politicize border issues, but claimed that the left was doing more harm, arguing that the left-wing approach was playing into the hands of the cartels dealing in people, drugs and weapons.

The vice president also hosted an online roundtable discussion on migrant issues on 14 April.
