Justin Fields gives Jaguars something to think about

USA TODAY Sports

The Jaguars secured the scoring of Clemson full-back Trevor Lawrence. Now they will have to think about whether to use the choice on Justin Fields, Lawrence or Ohio fullback.

A week after Saints fighter Alvin Kamara scored six touchdowns in the Superdome on Christmas Day, Fields ushered in the new year by picking up six of his own, with several impressive deep throws and an incredible display of toughness and gravel after hitting a big hit to his lower abdomen in the second quarter.

Although it costs a lot to put the Jaguars Fields’ name on a draft map, another chapter needs to be written, within ten days against Alabama. If Fields can do it again on the biggest stage in college football, will the Jaguars seriously consider taking over Fields as Lawrence?

First, the Jaguars need to hire a general manager. Then they have to decide who their coach will be. The identity of the persons who get the job will have a big influence on the final decision.

What if former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, who is linked to the Jacksonville track, becomes the head coach of the Jaguars? He recruited Fields to Columbus. This will surely be a factor in the full analysis of whether it is Lawrence of Fields at the end of April.

No matter how it all plays out, Ohio State’s unlikely 49-28 victory over Clemson makes an awkward thing anything more than that. The Jets will meanwhile get whoever lets the Jaguars go on the board – and they can certainly not be upset about that after what happened tonight.
