Justin Bieber opened up about how difficult his first year of marriage to his wife, Hailey Baldwin, was.
The 27-year-old singer told GQ magazine it was ‘very difficult’ because he felt he was ‘on eggshells’.
“The first year of the marriage was very difficult because there was a lot to go back to the trauma stuff,” Bieber explained, referring to his years as a child star. “There was just a lack of confidence. There were all these things that you do not want to admit to the person you are with because it’s scary.”
“You don’t want to scare them off by saying, ‘I’m scared,'” he admitted.

Bieber and Baldwin are getting married in September 2018 in a courthouse in New York and will hold a larger ceremony in South Carolina a year later. He was then 24 years old while the model was 21.

In 2021, the couple is on a healthier path to ‘creating these moments for us as a couple as a family that we build these memories.’
“It’s nice that we can look forward to it. Before, I never looked forward to it in my life,” Bieber explained. “My home life was unstable. Like my home life did not exist yet. I did not have an important person. I did not have someone to love. I did not have someone to collapse. But now I have it. “

Bieber acknowledges his relationship and his belief that he helped him shed his extramarital children ego.
“To make everyone say how good you are, how amazing you are? You just start believing those things. And ego starts. And then uncertainty comes in. And then you start treating people in a certain way and feeling better and higher “People. And then there’s this whole dynamic shift,” he recalls. “I just woke up one day and it’s just like, ‘Who am I?’ “I did not know. And it was scary for me.”
Bieber praised Baldwin and his relationship with God for helping him change as a person and as a musician.

Bieber went through a period of alcohol, drugs and arrests. He said he “lost control of my vision for my career.”
“I thought all the success would get everything right. And for me, the drug was an anesthetic just to go through,” he continued.

Bieber hopes to tell his truth can help other struggling people. “You can do it. You are valuable. Whatever you say or believe about yourself is not necessarily true. It just is not,” he offered.

“I have a woman I love, and for whom I comfort myself. I feel safe. I feel like my relationship with God is wonderful. I have this outpouring of love that I want to share with people,” he said. “It’s just rewarding to be everything you’re designed to be. I believe that at this stage of my life I’m just there where I’re supposed to be doing what I believe God wants me to do. And there is nothing more fulfilling. ‘
