Judge throws Katie Hill’s lawsuit against Daily Mail over nude photos

Hill lawsuit filed against the newspaper and Salem Media Group, which owns the conservative blog RedState, and claims that the publication of nude photos of her in 2019 is a “non-consensual porn”.

She further claims that the news agencies do not have a First Amendment right to ‘sexually degrade and expose public officials’.

The pack specifically named Salem Media Group Inc., Mail Media Inc. and Hill’s ex-husband, Kenny Heslep.

Judge Yolanda Orozco sided with the Daily Mail on Wednesday and found the photos to be a matter of public interest, according to The Orange County Registry.

“The intimate images published by (the Daily Mail) spoke to (Hill)’s character and qualifications for her position, as they allegedly (Hill) suggested to a campaign staffer with whom she allegedly had a sexual relationship. had shown (Hill) use of a then illegal drug and displayed a tattoo that was controversial because it looked like a white ruling symbol that became a problem during her congressional campaign, ‘Orozco told the newspaper writing.

Hill, who represented the 25th Congress District of California, resigned in October 2019 amid allegations that she had inappropriate relationships with congressional and campaign staff. This comes after the Daily Mail published photos which was allegedly from Hill following the allegations, previously reported by RedState, with reference to text messages from Heslep.

Hill exploded Wednesday’s ruling on Twitter, saying that ‘we lost in court because a judge – not a jury – thinks revenge porn is speechless. This struggle has huge implications for every woman who ever wants to be eligible, and so it is not an option to quit. ”

Carrie Goldberg, a lawyer for Hill, suggested on Twitter that they would appeal against the verdict, saying: ‘DM said and the court agrees that Katie’s nudity is their free speech. We think the Court of Appeal will not agree. ”
