Joshua Kimmich has asked Hansi Flick to hand out Leon Goretzka halfway through the first half of Bayern Munich’s 3-2 defeat to PSG

Bayern Munich finished second in a snow-covered Allianz Arena in the first match of their Champions League quarter-final, against Paris Saint-Germain, and lost 3-2 to the Parisians. However, it was not a lack of chances created by Hansi Flick’s men, who had a total of 31 shots and 12 shots, which is particularly reassuring as they were without Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry. Meanwhile, PSG counted only six total shots, five of which were on the frame.

Unfortunately for the Bavarians, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Süle suffered injuries in the first half:

At this point, there is no indication of the severity of any injury, nor how long one of the two is out – or if they should get a spell on the sidelines at all. Hopefully this is nothing too serious for both players and they could play a role in the Parc de Princes in Paris next week.

As noted in our observations, there was a bit of confusion between Flick, Jerome Boateng, Alphonso Davies, Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich halfway through the first half.

About half an hour later, Kimmich shouted for Flick to have Goretzka replaced, indicating that he had an injury problem just before PSG scored their second goal (Marquinhos, 28 ‘). At the time, Flick told Boateng to get ready to go on, but then changed his mind and told Davies to take out his warm-ups and get ready to go on.

Kimmich was audibly unhappy about what was a bit of an indecision from Flick, while Goretzka had to be replaced. He was eventually replaced by Davies in the 32nd minute.
