Joseph Siravo, ‘Sopranos’ and ‘Jersey Boys’ star, dies at 66

Joseph Siravo, best known for his roles in ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Jersey Boys’, died on Sunday, Fox News confirmed. He was 66.

The bubbly artist, who passed on his knowledge as an acting coach to others, died after a “courageous” attack with colon cancer. His family told the New York Post on Monday.

Siravo regularly portrayed Tony Soprano’s father in the 1960s during the HBO series, widely regarded as one of the best TV shows of his era, regardless of genre, in the flashbacks of the young boss.

Siravo’s other TV roles are a kind of actor of different kinds: ‘For Life’, ‘Law & Order’, ‘The People vs. OJ Simpson: ‘American Crime Story’ and ‘The Blacklist’. He has also appeared on Broadway productions such as ‘The Light in the Piazza’, for which Siravo has twice worked with Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher. Recently, Siravo also performed in ‘Oslo’.

Siravo’s off-Broadway credits are an example of his performance series and include ‘Mad Forest’ and ‘Up Against the Wind’ (both at the New York Theater Workshop) and ‘Dark Rapture’ and ‘Gemini’ (both on Second Stage).

The son of Theresa and Mario Siravo also recorded more than 2,000 appearances as gangster Gyp DeCarlo during the American flagship tour of the hit musical ‘Jersey Boys’, which began in 2006.

His family told The Post that Siravo “had a lifelong love and passion for Shakespeare” and received praise for his performance of “Claudius” in the 2004 production of “Hamlet” at the Long Wharf Theater. “

Not to mention, “in addition to his work at NYU, he was also a coach, mentor and teacher of the Shakespeare canon,” his family added.

Many of Siravo’s co-sponsors “Sopranos” took to social media to mourn his death and to celebrate the actor.

Actor Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher in the series, expressed his co-star’s sentiment in an emotional Instagram message.

“Joe was an excellent actor and a wonderful guy and he will be greatly missed,” Imperioli wrote. ‘His actions [as] Johnny Boy Soprano was in the spot and he also made a perfect John Gotti in Nick Sandow’s ‘The Wannabe’. In my opinion, he was the best of all the actors who played the Teflon Don. ‘
