Jon Stewart joins Twitter to defend Reddit GameStop merchants

Jon Stewart was asked on Thursday to join Twitter to defend the apostate Reddit retailers who turned Wall Street upside down this week.

The former Daily Show presenter hit back at critics of the rogue day traders who used WallStreetBets to skyrocket GameStop’s shares in defiance of large hedge funds that cut the business short.

“It’s stupid. “The Redditors are not cheating, they are joining a party that Wall Street insiders have been enjoying for years.” Stewart tweeted.

“Do not close them … they might rather sue for copyright infringement !!”

He added: “We have not learned anything since 2008.”

The comedian signs his first tweet “StewBeef.” His account @jon_actual was quickly confirmed and received a blue check.

“The Late Show” presents Stephen Colbert reacted to Stewart with: “Well, one thing has changed since 2008 – a friend of mine joined Twitter.”

In a follow-up tweet a few hours later, Stewart, 58, thanked fellow users for the warm welcome on the social media platform.

“I promise to use this app only sporadically and ineffectively,” did he joke.
