Jon Gosselin reveals that he was admitted to hospital for COVID-19 and that he was placed close to a ventilator

Jon Gosselin has revealed that he was admitted to hospital for COVID-19 and that he was put close to a ventilator while still fighting the virus, but his estranged children do not even know he is ill.

The former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star opened up about his diagnosis and hospital stay during an interview on The Dr. Oz Show, recorded today and airing Thursday.

The 43-year-old man, who worked as an IT director at a healthcare institution during the pandemic, told the host, dr. Mehmet Oz, said he had a fever of 104.8 degrees when his girlfriend Colleen Conrad’s daughter Jordan took him to the hospital.

Dr. Oz noted that people can start grabbing when their temperature reaches 105 degrees.

“I was in a wheelchair. I had to wait in the ER, ‘Jon recalls. “It was crowded as the hospital was full, and then they put me on a gurney and put me in the hallway in the waiting room so I could get a temporary room.”

He explained that ‘it happened really fast’ and most of his hospital stay was unclear to him.

“Once they evaluated me and once drew my blood and did all my blood work, I suddenly get antibiotics, steroids and a plasma antibody transfusion for COVID,” he said.

‘Then they moved me to another room, a more permanent room, and then I just remember that I was asleep, and then it was just surreal. Like what? It was not until three days later that I realized why I was there. ‘

“I had a very serious COVID pneumonia based on my numbers,” the father agrees. ‘What’s interesting is that I did not feel it. I did not feel sick and felt no pain because it did not feel like someone was stabbing me, but when you went to move or do something and you felt so weak and you wanted to reach out, it was really scary. ‘

Jon said he would fear having to get up and use the bathroom, remembering how he had to ask his nurses to help him with almost everything.

“I would fear it, for I am like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to die. I can not breathe, ‘he said. ‘I called the nurse and I always felt guilty for calling the nurse. Why can you not just help me get it? Can you help me do that? Everything, you feel like an invalid.

“You’re going to be completely healthy one week, and you can do nothing the next week,” he added. “It was so weird.”

Jon and his ex-wife Kate Gosselin (45) share twins Cara and Mady (20) and sextet Aaden, Collin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah (16).

However, only Collin and Hannah live with their father. Their siblings are raised by their mother during their confused custody battle of their parents, in which both Jon and Kate accused the other of abuse.

Jon’s other children are not aware that he has COVID-19 and will probably discover the news from his interview in the program.

The father told Dr Oz that his death life made him reconsider his relationship with his estranged children, and he shared an emotional message for them, saying he ‘loves them’.

‘I hope they develop a relationship with Hannah and Collin. I hope I can be a part of your life one day, ‘he told the camera. “I’m glad I got a second chance. I was more concerned about myself in the hospital and getting better and returning to my family.

“I miss them,” he continues. ‘It’s another surreal part of my life that I’ve developed a thick skin to move forward just to help Hannah and Collin since they lived with me. These are things I want to build on. ‘

Jon’s hospital stay comes months after his son Collin claimed his father punched and kicked him in an Instagram post now removed.

The couple therapy alum denied the allegations and in September he showed a letter from the Berks County Children & Youth Services in Pennsylvania to DailyMail.com confirming that the report of alleged child abuse was ‘unfounded’.

Two months later, Jon encouraged his children to speak out about the drama surrounding their family during an appearance in The Dr. Oz Show.

“I think the kids need to talk,” he said. “I mean, I give them the outlet of, ‘If you want to talk to the public because you’re public [people], you have every opportunity to do these things. ”

Jon added that he believes an ‘intervention’ from his children would be needed to ever repair bridges with his ex-wife.

‘I have no idea if they will reach out like that. I left it in their court and focused only on the two who live with me, because there is so much going on with therapies and work and COVID and all the others, ‘he said.
