Joint Yemeni twins fly to Jordan for separation operations

Two-month-old reunited boys from Yemen flew to Jordan over the weekend to undergo a separation operation, according to the video of their trip.

The twins, Mohammed and Ahmed, were born on December 17 at the rib cage and abdomen.

Their father said the family was receiving international treatment with the help of UNICEF because of the limited resources of Yemen’s pathological health care system.

Yemen has been plagued by civil war for six years, calling the United Nations the ‘world’s worst humanitarian crisis’.

The boys’ 35-year-old mother works as a street vendor in Sana’a, Yemen’s capital, UNICEF said.

The agency said ‘private donors’ cover the cost of the operation.

“After weeks of arrangements, we are delighted that the twins are now in a hospital in Jordan undergoing surgery,” Philippe Duamelle, UNICEF representative in Yemen, said in a statement.

‘[The twins] is now in the safe hands of a team of expert surgeons. We hope to see them in good health in Sana’a again soon. ”
