Joint staff for nursing staff will start vaccinating this weekend, says the Joint Information Center | Lost Coast Outpost

From the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Dozens of staff at local competent nursing homes are expected to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine by the end of this holiday weekend.

California Govin Newsom’s office announced Monday that the state has chosen to select the federal COVID-19 Pharmacy Partnership, which will see CVS and Walgreens employees administer the Pfizer vaccine to nursing home staff and residents. assistance facilities, home care centers and other long-term care places. care facilities. However, with the delay in federal implementation, the public health of Humboldt County entered the gap.

The Humboldt County Health Officer, dr. Ian Hoffman, said: “The pharmacy partnership program will be beneficial to many people, but due to the current situation in our country, we think it is important to move the staffing time line at our local expert nurse facilities.”

While some facilities, including Seaview Rehabilitation, will be vaccinated early next week with the federal program, Fortuna and Eureka Rehabilitation and Wellness Centers will have to wait until mid-January without the support of public health.

Many staff at the Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center remain under quarantine, but it is planned to vaccinate all persons who have not yet tested positive as soon as the quarantine period ends. Staff who tested positive will be able to start the vaccination series after recovering or waiting 90 days.

Public health personnel are coordinating with the Emergency Operations Center, community partners and medical providers to host hospitable vaccination clinics for health workers across the country from next week.
