Johnson & Johnson sees 100 million COVID vaccines for US by April

Johnson & Johnson hopes to have enough COVID-19 vaccines for 100 million Americans by April as federal nationwide vaccination efforts increase, a company official said.

According to dr. Mark McClellan, a New Jersey-based drugmaker, said it was “full steam ahead with production” while awaiting the results of a large-scale clinical trial. J&J board member and former commissioner for food and drug administration.

“I do know that J&J is making a huge offer … with the goal of having enough vaccines for 100 million Americans by spring spring,” McClellan told CNBC on Thursday night. “It will make a big difference in the availability of the offer during the coming weeks and months if the trial does succeed.”

J&J expects to release data this month from the Phase 3 trial of its single-dose coronavirus vaccine, which was shown at an early stage to generate an immune response to COVID-19.

The company will then apply for an emergency use permit from the FDA, allowing it to be administered across the country like the existing photos of Pfizer and Moderna.

But the pharmaceutical company has apparently struggled with production attacks that are causing it to deteriorate with the aim of making 12 million doses available by the end of February. J&J nevertheless said that he was “confident” that he would be able to meet his offer obligations this year.

While the vaccine supply will increase in general, it will be difficult to “keep up with the large number of Americans who now really want to be vaccinated,” McClellan said.

According to federal data, less than half of the approximately 38 million doses distributed so far have fallen into the arms of Americans, and officials in places like New York City have warned of shortages.

President Biden’s government has “set a goal of one million doses a day,” McClellan told CNBC. “We’ve actually been at that level for the last few days and I think people are going to expect a higher level of vaccine distribution and administration.”
