Veteran actor John Reilly, whose TV credits are included in the day alone General hospital, passions and Sunset beach, passed away on Saturday night, TVLine has learned. He was 84.
One of Reilly’s daughters, actress and TikTok personality Caitlin Reilly, shared the news via Instagram, saying: ‘John Henry Matthew Reilly AKA Jack. The brightest light in the world went out. A cause of death has not yet been shared.

The Chicago-born actor’s early career began with the bow As the world turns (like Dr. Dan Stewart), How the West Won, Quincy ME and Dallas (like Roy Ralston).
In February 1984, he GH debuted as Sean Donely, Robert Scorpio’s former boss of the WSB (World Security Bureau), who was a bit of a foil during Frisco and Felicia’s Aztec Treasure hunt (see his debut below). Following Reilly’s 11 years GH running, he uttered Hawkeye / Clint Barton on the animated voice Ysterman series, plays Kelly Taylor’s doll Beverly Hills, 90210, and then both had perennial runs Sunset beach (like Del Douglas) and Passions (replaces the late David Bailey as Alistair Crane).
Reilly’s acting credits also include the short-lived spin-off General hospital: night service (where he repeated the role of Sean) and the web soapie The Bay. And yes, he is the reason Talladega Nagte‘John C. Reilly uses a middle initial professionally.
Reilly is survived by his wife Liz and a total of three daughters.
