Mulaney revealed for the first time that he was being investigated by the secret service during an appearance in ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’.

The Secret Service file contains a report by Breitbart entitled, “SNL: John Mulaney Jokes that Senators Should Stab Trump Like Julius Caesar.” The investigation into Mulaney opened in March and closed in December, five days after the comedian spoke in Kimmel’s show about the situation.

In the Secret Service file, it is noted that Mulaney made no direct threats against Trump.

“The person who looked at me was very understanding that the joke had nothing to do with Donald Trump because it was an elliptical reference to him,” Mulaney told Kimmel. “I did not say anything about him.
