John Brown says he would like to play for the Steelers next year

The 2021 NFL season has been kicking off for a while. After the league announced that the salary cap would be $ 182.5 million, teams had to clear their roster of veteran players that would cost the team too much money to retain.

You have seen reports circulating like wildfire from players allegedly released to create a salary cap for specific organizations.

One of the players was former Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown.

To be honest, when the release was made, it did not send a shockwave through the NFL landscape. Looks like another veteran who’s going to hit the free agency before the 2021 season, but then Brown joins SiriusXM’s NFL Radio to talk about what came down.

When you listen to the clip below, the first thing that stands out is how Brown said he had no idea about the move. He was under the impression that he would return to the Bills in 2021, and he questioned whether Josh Allen, the full-back, had any say over the roster movement.

He will continue, and when asked which team he wants to play for in 2021, he names two teams. The first? The Pittsburgh Steelers. Listen to the clip below:

Here is Brown’s full quote in response to Ed McCaffrey’s question:

‘I mean, you know, it depends on who needs receivers. But I definitely know, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Big Ben are definitely good with the deep ball, and the Indianapolis Colts, as they use TY Hilton. When we played the guys in the playoffs last year, I walked away and I’m like this team, they’re coming, they’re going to be a problem in the next few years. So, you know, I have options, I feel like I would fit in everywhere, but these are just the top two of the top. Everywhere I can come in and help be a little piece for the puzzle, or if they need me to be a big piece to come in and help younger guys move around and do what I have to do . However, these are the main two teams. ”

Brown comes off in 2020 with a very disappointing season where he faces an injury. Brown only played in nine games, but was able to record the following statistics:

Games: 9
Receipts: 33
Sites: 458
Average: 13.9
TDs: 3

There has been a lot of talk about the Steelers adding their wide reception room this season, and many want to help a veteran lead the young reception room. Brown will definitely fit that bill, but at what price?

The Steelers still have work to do before they can be considered ‘buyers’ in a free agency, and until the work is done, either by reducing players or restructuring contracts, you can expect the team to be idle. sit while other teams move.
