Joe Scarborough to Capitol Hill Police: You opened the fucking doors for them

Scarborough, a former Florida congressman, expressed his anger at how quickly and easily law enforcement lost control of the siege.

“Trump supporters come in and you open the doors for them,” Scarborough shouted, addressing the police force. “You open the doors for them and let them break through the house of the people.”

The co-host of the “Morning Joe” scolded the police for images of law enforcement officers hitting rioters on the back and taking selfies with insurgents.

“They politely open the court to terrorists who have been knocking on the door, ‘killing the media,'” he added.

According to Washington Metropolitan Police, four people died during the chaos. One woman was shot by a U.S. police officer in the Capitol and three other people had medical emergencies.

Trump is to blame, Scarborough said. The mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday was filled with angry Trump supporters and conspiracy theorists for whom the president gave incorrect information about the election.
Scarborough, once Trump’s friend, has been criticized for favoring Trump as a 2016 presidential candidate. The morning show became a fervent critic of the president and Republicans. In 2017, he announces that he is leaving the Republican Party. On Thursday, he shared his anger over how the president incited violence.

“He’s a rebel. There are no questions. He should be arrested today,” Scarborough said of Trump’s actions that led to Wednesday’s violence. “He should be jailed today for rebellion against the United States.”

Scarborough questioned Capitol police’s lack of action.

“Even as a member of Congress, I had to have my ID to get in,” he said. “Why was the police in Capitol Hill not better prepared for this? Why was the city of Washington, DC, not better prepared for this?”

The morning program also pointed out that this level of violence in official U.S. government buildings had not occurred since the war of 1812 when the British stormed Washington.
