Joe Rogan had an awkward interview, a shrinking moment

Let’s just put it bluntly: Is Joe Rogan trippin ‘?

The veteran commentator at Cageside was at the UFC Apex on Saturday night for UFC 258 to name his first 2021 event, and his return gave us one very uncomfortable moment with Polyana Viana.

Viana had just scored an impressive first-round victory over Mallory Martin during their pre-match for the straw-weight on ESPN. While Rogan was interviewing after the fight, their conversation began like this:

Rogan: “Before we even talk about the fight, I want to know: what was it like to become famous for defeating the mixer in Brazil?”

Viana, by translator Alex Davis: ‘Yes, that was two years ago. Everyone still remembers. I’m very happy because it inspired a lot of women to start doing self-defense classes. ”

Yes, that’s right. Viana just watched very good when she won her second consecutive battle, but for some strange reason, Rogan was interested in talking first about something that happened January 2019.

It was a viral story at the time that broke Fernanda Prates, then-MMA reporter Junkie. But did Rogan just read about it this week?

As awkward as it was, Rogan rejoined fellow commentators Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier, and he was not quite ready to stop talking about the mugger story. This is what was said on the air before you went commercial:

Rogan: “We talked about it during the break, but that fight, the thing she had in Brazil, we did not really talk on the air, did we? Here is a viral image of a man with his face beaten in hell, and it is because of this woman. He tried to cup her, and she knocked the snot out of him. He became part of several memes. ”

Cormier: “He is known for being beaten …”

Rogan: ‘By a beautiful woman too! What a terrible life! ‘

Oh, the shrink.
