Defensive point JJ Watt negotiated his own departure from the Texans and was all smiles on Tuesday during his introductory press conference with the Cardinals.
Among the reasons why Watt is happy in Arizona is the presence of quarterback Kyler Murray, whom he called extremely talented and could have gotten even better in his third season. Watt played with another good quarterback in Houston and Deshaun Watson’s name also appeared during the press conference.
Watson also wants to leave the Texans, but has so far been unable to free himself. Watt said he hopes Watson gets everything he needs to make him happy.
“I love Deshaun. I love Deshaun, ”said Watt. “We talk often. He is an amazing player, but an amazing person. He is a special person and of course he is incredibly talented as an athlete, but he is also just an amazing person. And I say to him: the one thing I want for Deshaun Watson is that he should be happy. He deserves it and I want him to be happy. Whatever seems to him, that’s what I want for him. ‘
At this point, there is no alignment between what will make Watson happy and what will make the Texans happy. Until that does not change, Watson on Tuesday will have nothing more than the happy scene that Watt had to take.
