Jets to make ‘waves’ in free agency?

Free agencies are around the corner, and tonight it’s like Christmas Eve for NFL fans. The actual action will start this morning, but we are already starting to get reports on what is to come. The more we hear, the more it sounds like the Jets are going to be big players in a very interesting market due to the salary cap reduction.

We’ve heard the Jets will chase the Patriots guard Joe Thuney, and this is apparently not the only major target in which they are interested. The expectation from sources across the league is that the Jets will “make” in the free agency, Connor Hughes of The Athletic. tweets. GM Joe Douglas is apparently poised to be a major expense, and “there is absolutely no financial constraint on Douglas during the off-season,” Hughes writes.

Hughes further says Douglas has’ green means to build a team the way he wants. That means pursuing top-level FAs and giving them $ top-level $, if he wants to. “In a separate tweet, Says Hughes, one source told him the Jets “want the big guys.” When asked if it means size or money, he answers ‘both’.

Thuney will definitely meet both of these criteria. Finally, Hughes tweets that while Douglas will be ‘aggressive’, he will not be reckless and that he will have ‘his runaway numbers’. One source told Hughes that “Joe is not desperate.”
