Clemson full-back Trevor Lawrence is expected to be the No. 1 pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. That makes Justin Fields of Ohio and Zach Wilson of BYU available for Douglas. According to former NFL MVP and Super Bowl winner Joe Theismann, Wilson is the best QB prospect of the three. By CBS Sport:
‘Honestly, yes. [It’s] really close. We stone some hair here, but I want to [take Wilson over Lawrence] to tell the truth. … I think Zach obviously likes the way he throws football. It is difficult to teach. We’ve seen people learn to perfect it a little bit. He has all the skills; he has a living arm, he has a strong arm, he can touch it, he can arm it. He’s 6′3 ”, he’s not a little guy. He moves around with great athletics. I think he looks really ready to see me play how he plays quarterback. Trevor Lawrence is definitely a great kid who can run well, surrounded by tremendous talent on Clemson. It’s a bit like Mac Jones in Alabama. They are surrounded by tremendous talent and sometimes you look at that talent and say ‘it helped the position a lot’. I think in the case of Trevor, a young man and as strong and physical as he is, he will have a wonderful opportunity to learn, just like Mac and all the young guys, Justin Fields, also from the state of Ohio. I just think he looked into this concept, and Zach checks all the subjects for me. Personally my choice. My ou. It looks like the Jets could be the ones taking him at 2, possibly placing Sam Darnold on the market or somewhere else. ”
Theismann, a resident of New Brunswick, NJ, led the Washington Redskins to several Super Bowls and won the Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl XVII over the Miami Dolphins. Theismann was the NFL MVP in 1983.
