JetBlue took its first Airbus A321neo with the new Mint suites on Friday. This aircraft is not the Airbus A321LR that JetBlue will use for transatlantic flights, but it is a big step for the airline. This aircraft will operate several domestic premier routes before JetBlue launches international long-haul flights.
JetBlue takes first Airbus A321neo with Mint Suites
On Friday 26 February, JetBlue announced that it had delivered its first Airbus A321neo aircraft, which was assembled with the airline’s new Mint suites. The plane flew directly from Hamburg, Germany, to JetBlue’s largest base at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York.
The aircraft itself is registered as N2105J and has the name “NEO Mintality.” It is the 270th aircraft to join JetBlue’s fleet and is the 16th Airbus A321neo in its fleet. However, this is the first Airbus A321neo to feature Mint.
The aircraft can be recognized on the outside by the “Ribbons” tail fin. JetBlue likes to make its tail fins nice, and this one is no exception. The tail fin contains three blues from JetBlue’s trading palette and is inspired by optical art that uses simple shapes to create the illusion of three dimensions and movement.
The aircraft is equipped with space for 160 passengers – a light load for the A321neo. The aircraft has 16 Mint suites, including two Mint studios with extra square footage, in the cabin for business classes.
In the economy, JetBlue offers 144 seats. There are seven rows of economy with extra legroom. All seats also have access to AC and USB ports. The seats in economy have a width of 18.4 inches.
Each seat has on-demand seating entertainment. In economics, it includes a 10.1-inch 1080P high-definition screen. From this screen, passengers can choose from channels on live TV, movies and seating games.
The new Mint Suites
This is the most important refresh of JetBlue’s Mint product since the airline introduced it. Each suite has access to the hallway, a larger entertainment screen for the flight and now wireless charging capabilities. All this pales in comparison to the seat itself.
Each coin chair is a suite. The airline selected the Thompson Aero Seating’s VantageSOLO seat. The JetBlue product, which is a narrow option for access to all corridors, is a very popular option. This is especially true for the first two seats which are Mint Studio seats. These two seats offer more space than the other seats and provide space for a guest during flight at sea level.
The new Mint suites will shake up the trans-Atlantic market, and JetBlue will allow its customers to access the same product at home. Presenting this product on JetBlue’s best premiere tests will help the airline retain its premium customers with a higher payout who have to fly across the US and across the dam.
Where is this Airbus A321neo flying to?
The Airbus A321neo starts on select flights between New York-JFK and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The aircraft is expected to be operational by the summer. JetBlue is happy to take its time with the launch of new aircraft. One such example is the Airbus A220-300 from the airline.
Jayne O’Brien, Head of Marketing and Loyalty at JetBlue, said:
With so much excitement surrounding JetBlue’s London plans, we are delighted to also introduce our fantastic, brand new transatlantic Mint Suites to customers on select flights in the US. the A321neo aircraft, will position JetBlue to compete effectively and be relevant to our customers in Coin Markets. ”
The transcontinental market is one of the most important in JetBlue. As the airline takes more A321neos with the new Mint suites, the airline will increase the number of routes the new Mint suites get over the next few years. Some other routes that the new Mint Suites can get are San Francisco and Seattle. For now, however, JetBlue is going conservative and keeping the plane reserved for transcontinental flights.
