‘Jeopardy!’: LeVar Burton shares petition to secure a host spot

Rainbow LeVar Burton rejoined the choir, calling on him to sing “Jeopardy!”

Since the tragic death of host Alex Trebek, there have been a bunch of special guests, including Katie Couric, Mayim Bialik, Aaron Rodgers and more, in the games program.

Fans have been asking for Burton, 64, for a chance at the show for some time. After Trebek’s death, a petition began circulating online asking Burton for a chance.

On Monday, actor “Star Trek: Generations” shared the petition on Twitter in hopes of getting some more autographs.

“Leave it here in case the forces listen …” he wrote in the tweet.

The online message has so far received more than 42,000 likes and more than 10,000 retweets.

“Between presenting 21 seasons of educational reading Rainbow, playing brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and completing the role of Kunta Kinte in the ever-important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton inspired and shaped the spirit of several generations of trivia love nerds.This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman how much the public loves Burton, and how much we all want to see as the next host of Jeopardy! “reads the petition.

So far, the petition has received 181,884 signatures with the aim of reaching 200,000.

This is not the first time Burton has shared the petition. He originally did this in November 2020 after it was created.

“Even if nothing comes of it, I can not tell you how much I appreciate all your love and support!” Burton wrote, together with a link to the petition.

In a second tweet, he reiterated his appreciation, but also shared a note in honor of Trebek and his family.

“While flattered by the petition, I definitely go to Alex Trebeck (sic)’s family and his millions of fans and the devastating loss of this irreplaceable legend,” he wrote, along with the hashtag #LongLiveAlex.

Reps for “Jeopardy!” did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
