After Slate mentioned that she gave birth six weeks ago, she joked that she would not choose a name for her daughter that would more accurately reflect that she was pregnant during the pandemic: ‘We had to think more about her to give something to commemorate this time in our universe. “
Slate then discussed the baby naming process, saying that she and fiancĂ© Ben Stattuck “looked at some Eastern European names” after discovering that some of her family came from an area in Europe.
“One name we were both obsessed with was a spell,” she continued, struggling not to laugh. “And while I was pregnant, we just kept calling her Bagrat, which I certainly am not … how to pronounce it.”
Slate also became aware of birth during the pandemic, which she defined as “a very important time to have a baby now”. Luckily, Stattuck was able to accompany her into the delivery room.
“We had everything going on, and that’s good, because I made a lot of faces that I might not want him to remember.”
Slate described the birth experience as’ an extreme experience in which I lost any filter I’ve had left. After I had the baby … I was just like, ‘Did my vagina tear in half? is it another vagina, or is it not? ‘
Congratulations to the new parents!
