Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are officially over. After a total of four years together and an engagement of two years, the couple announced in a joint statement on April 15 that they had decided to divorce. The “Papi” singer has not commented on their breakup since, but fans say one of Jennifer Lopez’s Instagram posts could describe how she feels.

Just a few months ago, Lopez and Rodriguez were looking forward to their wedding, which was delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. But they seem to have hit a rough spot in March when reports surfaced claiming they were apart. The news comes amid rumors that he apparently had an affair with him Southern charm‘s Madison LeCroy, who denied them.
The couple refuted the speculation of breakdowns in a joint statement with TODAY, saying: “All the reports are inaccurate … We are working through some things.” But it seems the relationship could not be saved.
“We realized we are better than friends and look forward to staying that way …”, the couple said in a statement that they are apart, which was shared with E! News. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.”
Sources noted on inquiry that Lopez was the rift that allegedly started the rift, and explained that she had not been happy for months. “Once her trust is broken, there is no stopping,” said one source. “She feels good about her decision, because she knows that A.Rod will still be in her life, just in a different capacity.”

A few days before the breaking news, Lopez shared an Instagram post that fans are now looking at differently. Caption “[peace] & [love] to all my #JLovers this weekend, ”it shows the singer throwing up the peace sign as she apparently prepares to ride in a car. The post seemed comfortable at the time, but now people are convinced that it alluded to her exposition with Rodriguez.
“I understand now. It was peace for ARod,” one person wrote in the comments section.

You have to admit: this is quite funny. But the timing of the post and the caption suggest it had nothing to do with Rodriguez, with whom Lopez began dating in 2017 after years of friendship. On top of that, as they said in their statement, there is still love and respect between them – their relationship just did not work out. If so, it’s hard to imagine Lopez harming him in such a way if you ask us.
Maybe at some point in the future she will have more say in the breakup. But for now, they seem to be focused on other things.
