It certainly does not hurt that JBL has also given this thing a slew of connectivity options. Once installed, the soundbar will play nicely with audio streamed via Apple Airplay 2, Google Cast and Bluetooth, and can be part of a multi-room speaker group if you play music via Amazon’s Alexa.
Having not heard of the Bar 5.0 in action, we can still not judge how well JBL performed on its allegations of haunting sound – after all, it’s a $ 400 kit. For now, we’re cautiously optimistic, but it’s remarkably that other companies have attempted to produce equally spacious sound through all-in-one sound bars, to varying degrees of success. Yet there is something to be said for JBL’s zeal for simplicity here – the Bar 5.0 could be an excellent choice for people who want to experience their media through more than just their TV speakers when it launches in the spring of 2021.
