Jaylen Brown talks about Celtics newcomer Payton Pritchard: ‘He’s the GOAT’

Payton Pritchard has been a pleasant surprise for the Boston Celtics so far this season.

The rookie was a spark off the bench and helped the Cs pick up the Indiana Pacers. He scored 10 points, five rebounds and five assists in the win.

Celtics-Pacers overreactions: Cs still have a long way to go despite victory over Indiana

Jaylen Brown was impressed with what he saw from Pritchard through the first four games of the campaign. He was going over the 22-year-old after the 116-111 victory.

“Payton is the BOK, man,” Brown said. “Payton came in confident. We definitely needed a spark from the bench and Payton was everything and more to us tonight. We’ll need more guys to keep going, but excellent work from Payton Pritchard “man can play child, and we look forward to him and other guys performing in the future as well.”

Now that’s a big praise.

The Celtics will need Pritchard and others in the second unit to improve this season, especially since Kemba Walker will not be returning anytime soon. It certainly seems that the Oregon product presents the challenge.

Pritchard will want to keep it going Wednesday night as he and the Cs tackle the Memphis Grizzlies at TD Garden.
