Jay Gruden: I’d be shocked if the Raiders get rid of Derek Carr

Earlier this week, a rumor surfaced that the Raiders were possibly planning to trade Derek Carr to chase Texan fullback Deshaun Watson.

If Jon Gruden, head coach of Raiders, comments on Watson, it would be tampering – and he has been doing so recently. But his brother, Jay, currently has no job after the Jacksonville coaching staff was replaced after the regular season.

In an interview with TheAthletic.com, Jay said he does not know if his brother will be open to Carr. But the younger Gruden made it seem unlikely.

“I never know what Jon’s going to do. But I will be really shocked, ‘said Jay Gruden. ‘As Derek played this year, I do not know why he wants to get rid of him. But who knows, if there’s another guy out there who really likes them, it’s a business at the end of the day. You need to think about not only the year to come, but also the future five, six, seven years. Jon is going to be there for the next six, seven years, so he needs to think about that too. ”

Jay noted that he was watching a lot of Raiders band in 2020 just in case he wanted to take a play or formation from his older brother, and that Carr had his pro season.

Carr completed 67.3 percent of its bases for 4103 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions by 2020.
