Before tearing his ACL late in the 2017 season, Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate. His offensive coordinator that season was, of course, his new head coach – Frank Reich.

Wentz did not play Super Bowl LII, with Nick Foles winning MVP. Offensive linebacker Jason Peters also did not play that game after tearing his ACL and MCL earlier in the year. But he still witnessed the partnership between Wentz and Reich for the first two years of the quarter’s career.

And that makes Peters believe in a complete Wentz revival with Indianapolis.

“One thing I do know about Frank is he will put Carson in the best position,” Peters said in an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio. ‘He’s not just going to let [Wentz] just go out there [and] have bad mechanics, or just go out there and throw bad balls. He’s going to put him in the best places. He is going to correct him if he is wrong, and vice versa. They are going to communicate with each other and all the good stuff.

‘So I think Frank will get the best out of Carson, because I saw it when we were on the Super Bowl run. They were a lot tougher, and that’s a good fir for Carson, I think. He’s going back to his MVP caliber of game. ”

In 13 games in 2017, Wentz passed 3,296 yards with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions – good for a pass rate of 101.9. His pass rate actually rose to 102.2 in 2018, but Wentz only played 11 games that season while suffering a back injury.

But Wentz’s play has declined significantly since then, as he completed just 57.4 percent of his passes for 2,620 yards last season with 16 hits and a top 15 distinctions in 12. That resulted in a pass rate of 72.8 had, which only Sam Danold achieved among qualified passengers.

Wentz and Reich have a lot of work to do. But if the quarterback returns to his game level in 2017, Indianapolis will be very pleased with the results of the huge success.
