Buccaneers GM Jason Licht has come a long way in seven years with the team. The fact that he even survived seven years is a small miracle, given the traditional impatience of the team’s ownership.
Licht not only survived, but also thrived and built a team that also caught the attention of Tom Brady during the jameis Winston. Sprinkle in some veterans who are attracted to the team by Brady’s presence, and the Bucs have a Super Bowl victory.
With the victory comes a Lombardi trophy. Brady gave football fans a surprise everywhere on Wednesday by throwing the trophy from one vessel to another during a Hillsborough boat parade. Yes, that was the real trophy. Yes, if the trophy had landed in the water, it would have sunk 80 feet down. Yes, one or more players who earned too much may have jumped in to pick it up, which could become problematic as the individuals try to swim back to the surface after realizing that there was no way to do the thing without a diving tank and flippers.
The throw itself raised concerns for Lorraine Grohs. In a video that went almost as viral as the video of the cast, Grohs claims that her father designed the Lombardi Trophy while working as a silversmith at Tiffany & Co. worked.
‘It really upset me that this trophy was dishonor and despise by being thrown, as if it were real football, ‘Grohs said. ‘I have not slept the last two nights, that’s why I was so upset. Because I know the passion that this trophy contains. . . . I personally want to apologize, not only to me and my family, and the other silversmiths, but also to the fans. ‘
Light responded to the clip posted on Twitter with a classic poison of Strepe.

While reasonable moods may differ on whether it was reasonably prudent for Brady to throw the trophy between boats (especially since Brady was quite drunk), it was a fun moment. Besides, it is not some holy idol or religious remnant; it’s a chunk of silver – one of 55 official Lombardi trophies, and counts.
The real question becomes in a year’s time whether the next champion will try to improve the Brady maneuver. And if the Bucs win it again, will Brady try to throw it even further than he did in 2021?
