Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Browns’ other close COVID-19 contacts are expected Thursday; Wyatt Teller probably Wednesday

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Help is on the way for the Browns’ big clash with the Steelers Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday that the five high-risk close contacts of linebacker BJ Goodson are expected by Thursday if they remain negative. They are receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and KhaDarel Hodge, and linebacker Jacob Phillips.

Without the players and left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. lost the Browns 23-16 to the Jets on Sunday in a game in which they were able to clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2002.

Goodson will have to suspend the Steelers game as part of its ten-day minimum quarantine period to test positive for COVID-19.

Stefanski also said he is hopeful of getting right-back Wyatt Teller back on the field because of his high ankle strain, and safety Ronnie Harrison (shoulder) could play this week.

During the game, three players were injured and are injured daily: linebackers Sione Takitaki and Tae Davis suffered knee injuries and newcomer Nick Nick suffered a knee injury.

Stefanski said he still has no timing with the return of Wills, who was ruled out on Sunday due to illness after being activated from the COVID-19 reserve list as a close contact. Wills has tested negative so far, meaning he would be eligible to play if it continues.
