Jared Veldheer can make NFL history this week.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Veldheer, an attacking suit who played for the Colts against the Bills on Sunday, signed with the Packers. When he plays for the Packers against the Rams, he becomes the first player in NFL history to play for two different teams in the same post-season.
Usually this is not allowed. But Veldheer was in the Colts’ training group, rather than their active team, and was included in the playlist as part of the league’s special rules this season to give teams more flexibility to offer healthy players during the COVID-19 pandemic . When the game ended, Veldheer returned to the Colts’ training group, and the Packers signed him off from the training group. (Players on active rosters remain under contract and cannot sign with another team after being out of the play-offs.)
Veldheer has played every offensive turn for the Colts in their loss to the Bills, and he will likely play for the Packers as well, as Green Bay need help with the attacking tackle following David Bakhtiari’s knee injury that ended the season, and that Veldheer for the Packers last year and know their offense. Field Master is going to do something that no other NFL player has done.
