Microsoft may have experienced issues with their latest version of Windows 10 cumulative updates, and users have reported KB4598299 (for Windows 10 2004) and KB4598301 (for Windows 10 1909), causing issues with BSOD.
The updates include enhancements for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 to address the following issues:
- Fix an issue with browsing when DPI scale is not 100% and the user is browsing at the end of TreeView.
- Fixed an issue where ASP.Net programs failed during precompilation.
- Includes reliability enhancements for automatic generation of Native Image tasks.
On Microsoft’s feedback forums, users report numerous app crashes that are fixed when the updates are removed. Some even report OS boot loops.
Microsoft confirmed problems with KB4598301 and said it was “working to get a solution released”.
If you are affected and can not wait for the solution, it appears that you can simply uninstall the update by going to Control Panel> Uninstalling an application> View installed updates, search for the KB number and click on the remove button.
