Google follows last month’s big Pixel Feature Drop with a bug fixer. The January update addresses six issues for the Pixel 5 and other current phones from Google.
One audio solution exclusive to the Pixel 5 is ‘further adjusting and improving the volume level of system sounds’, while ‘speaker noise in certain scenarios’ has been addressed for the Pixel 4a 5G.
Google’s 2020 devices – including the Pixel 4a – also get a further improvement for the response of automatic brightness in certain lighting conditions. All three phones use ambient light sensors below display.
All other phones (Pixel 3 / XL, 3a / XL. 4 / XL, 4a, 4a 5G and 5) get the following enhancements:
- Resolves issues that cause burial to resume in certain programs
- Further improvements for auto-rotation response in certain device directions
- Solution to the problem prevents calls from appearing on certain MVNO networks
Tap the OTA button in the system settings, drag the OTA immediately. On the Pixel 5, this update comes at 27.23M, which is more substantial than normal.
Meanwhile, Google’s latest phones are dropping to just two apps. After five at the end of last year, there is now only one Verizon-specific patch and the variant for everyone else. In addition, the US service provider update should be available today rather than being postponed for a week.
