Jamie Spears says the end of the conservatory ‘depends on Britney’

Jamie Spears says he’d want nothing more than to see ‘Britney Spears’ daughter ‘not need a conservatory.’

The #FreeBritney movement is still amplified by the buzzy Framing of Britney Spears documentary, and Jamie – who serves as co-curator of the pop star’s estate and was portrayed as the villain in the film – did damage control. His lawyer Vivian Lee Thoreen gave her second interview in days to defend him.

“[Jamie] would like nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatory, “Thoreen told CNN the legal arrangement – which is used in extreme circumstances for people who cannot take care of themselves – which has since the pop star’s collapse in 2008. money. ” Whether or not there is an end to the conservatory really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatory, she can submit a petition to end it. ‘

Thoreen said Jamie “does not suggest that he is the perfect father or that he will receive a father of the year award. Like any parent, he does not always see eye to eye on what Britney wants. But Jamie believes every single decision he made was in her best interest. ‘

She claimed that the decision to keep Britney in a conservatory was out of Jamie’s hands.

“The court investigator is also questioning everyone involved with the conservatory, and they are taking a deep dive to really study the conservatory to find out what’s going on,” she said. “And what I can tell you is that the court keeps the conservatory in place every year.”

Since last year, Britney – through her lawyer, Samuel Ingham III – appointed by the court, has tried to remove her father from his role. Ingham said the star is “scared” of Jamie, has not spoken to him since last summer and refuses to work in the showbiz until he is gone. She asked that Jodi Montgomery, who is currently overseeing the conservancy over her person, should oversee everything. Jamie has a co-conservator, currently Bessemer Trust, a financial company that oversees the operation of Britney’s $ 60 million estate.

Thoreen said Jamie does not object to working with the newly appointed Bessemer Trust to manage his daughter’s money. However, she added: “At the last trial it was reported that Jamie may be trying to obtain more than his co-conservator, and that is completely inaccurate. What we are arguing is that Jamie and his co-conservator should have the same power.”

Thoreen also addressed the current alienation between father and daughter, who have not spoken since the summer.

“Jamie undoubtedly loves Britney, and he misses her a lot,” she said. “But he respects her, and he wants to give her autonomy and space. And as I said before, there is, like any other family, well and good. Jamie respects Britney’s space, and he is also respectful of the request of ‘her lawyer that he did not contact her. But the key is that Britney knows that she can contact her father at any time and that he will be there for her. Whether there is a conservatory, Jamie will like Britney.’

Yahoo Entertainment recently spoke with California Family Law Attorney Christopher C. Melcher of Walzer Melcher about what exactly is needed to get Britney out of her conservatory. He said she would have to petition the court and then settle the case so she could take care of herself. She must consistently demonstrate behavior that she can successfully provide for her daily needs (food, housing and health), as well as to provide financially for her own. She will also need to show that she has a support system in place if she is having problems while doing so.

The petition to terminate the conservator could be filed by her attorney “at any time,” said Melcher, who does not represent the star. But, “If she does not ask, she will not get it,” he said, meaning she did not begin the process. While she has made it clear that she wants to take her father away, she is showing otherwise that, whatever the reasons, she is fine with the conservatory – until she files a petition to end it.

There are monthly hearings in the conservatory case and the next one is scheduled for March 17th. This is an accounting hearing, which is why her financial affairs will be reviewed – and for the first time since Bessemer Trust took office.

The following month, a petition hearing is scheduled for April 27.

Britney’s lawyer does not comment on ongoing cases, and Britney still remained a mother on the subject, except because it apparently hinted at it on social media. One of her latest posts refers to the “madness of the past year” and advocated that people should be “friendly”. She also said that people do not know the full story and for the time being enjoy being a ‘normal’ person, while enjoying time with her two sons and boyfriend Sam Asghari, who said he is not a fan of Jamie is not.
