Jamie Raskin: I’m not going to lose my son in 2020 and the country in 2021

“It’s not going to happen,” Raskin told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

The Maryland Democrat announced the death of his 25-year-old son, Tommy, on his 25th birthday. The Raskins said Tommy Raskin began experiencing depression in his twenties, something that became a kind of relentless torture in his brain.
The comment Sunday from Raskin comes days after the House moved Trump for a second time, this time accusing the president of inciting a violent crowd that stormed the U.S. Capitol, a violation that Raskin described as uniquely dangerous.

“It was the most serious presidential crime in the history of the United States of America. The most dangerous crime by a president ever committed against the United States,” he told Tapper.

The congressman also said House Democrats would pass the indictment to the Senate “soon,” an action that would eventually lead to the start of Trump’s indictment.

“I know that (Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi) also sees the president as a clear and current danger to the republic,” Raskin said.
