James Corden celebrated Trump’s last day in office with a parody of ‘Les Misérables’ number ‘One Day More’ with a slew of Broadway stars.
In the video, which aired during Tuesday’s episode of “The Late Late Show,” Corden is in a good mood at work due to the inauguration of incoming President Joe Biden. After seeing Trump appear on a TV screen, Corden breaks out in song: ‘One day more / The last day of Trump as president / The White House has a brand new resident / It was four years of endless crimes / But now is he’s finally out of time. “
As the song grows, members of the past and present ‘Les Misérables’ join the fray, including Patti LuPone, Matt Lucas, Joshua Grosso, Jillian Butler, Emily Bautista, Kyle Scatliffe and Shuler Hensley.
Together the group sings: ‘No more days of angry tweets (‘ Cuz this time he was banned for good) / Send him down to Mar-a-Lago (do they even want him there?) / Biden has to change sheets (maybe throw the bed away) / Will you change the lock on me? ‘
LuPone and Lucas come in about halfway, dressed as Trump supporters and sing a duet with lyrics like: ‘We will not wear a mask / This is our right / At your dealer Joe / We start a viral fight / Don Do not take our guns / We protect the peace / If you call us Karens / we just call the police. ‘
The video ends with a speech by Trump, and Corden simply turns off his myriad televisions. Check out the full parody below.
