Jameela Jamil went to Instagram to share her thoughts on the ketogenic diet.

The actress delivered a message on Friday to ‘celebrities and influencers’ who promote the keto diet. “Stop pushing the keto diet out to people who, for medical reasons, do not have to follow the diet,” she wrote, pointing out that she is not targeting a specific Thinfluencer.

“It can cause all sorts of disorders to people’s bodies (including their VITAL ORGANS), and they do not have the same access to health care as you.” Jamil slammed the ‘before and after’ photos that are often shared while promoting diets like keto and called them ‘bulls ** t’ tricks of lighting and wardrobe.

“Take it from someone who did every diet under the SUN,” she said. “Stay away from cravings and if you really want to change your body to anything you want to do, please do it slowly for the right reasons, in the right way.”

In her post, Jamil also shared responses from her followers who revealed their own experiences with and concerns about the diet. “I had to remove my gallbladder,” wrote one commenter about the consequences they face from keto. “Keto will also destroy your liver.”

“My father did keto and eventually he got pancreatitis and had to have surgery,” wrote another.

The keto diet has been in practice for almost a century, with a history of treating seizures in children with epilepsy. The diet is defined as low in carbohydrates and rich in protein and fat – large keto foods include fatty fish, eggs, meat and dairy products. The dramatic reduction of the carbohydrates required in the diet releases ketones into the bloodstream and causes the body to enter a metabolic state called ketosis, during which stored fat is more easily burned. Along the way, it lowers the body’s blood sugar and insulin levels.

The diet has become controversial in recent years as it has increased in popularity: the benefit of the diet is that fat can burn quickly, resulting in weight loss; the disadvantages are that it is difficult to maintain, and many people think that it deprives the body of essential nutrients (not many fruits and vegetables are involved in keto).

“The pitfalls I see most with Keto diets: no fruits, avoid starchy vegetables, legumes (beans) and no whole grains,” says Ruhs. “You will miss vital nutrients and possibly harm your health.”

If you do the keto diet, it can also be known as the “keto flu”, the symptoms of which can include fatigue, headaches, dizziness, nausea and constipation.

As for the red flags of Jamil’s followers, there is evidence that the keto diet can harm the pancreas, liver and other organs. With so much fat to metabolize, the diet that already exists can worsen liver conditions. Studies have also shown that pancreatitis can recur due to the increased intake of fat.

This exclamation point is hardly the first time Jamil has used her platform to tell the truth about diet culture. In the past, she has blown the Kardashians for their promotion of unhealthy diet teas, insisted that promotional photos of her not be aired, and been candid about her struggle with an eating disorder. Jamil also started the I Weigh Community which helped change the policy regarding diet and detox products to minors via Instagram and Facebook.

As for keto, Jami noted that it may be helpful for certain medical conditions. “I hear it can be extraordinary for certain serious health issues,” Jamil noted. ‘But if it is not, you are unnecessarily risking health issues because our world is not only obsessed with weight loss, but how fast we can do it. It is not sustainable and is designed to fail so that you can keep a happy diet forever. Send love to you and your organs! ”
